..And when it came to secret glances and air kisses, I thought and still think of you. Even at the first flicker of light that enters through the slits of my eyelids, I want to see you there. I want to see you filling up the blur from sight to recognition. It is how everything is, just you and me, exchanging breaths and sentiments, smiles and giggles, whispered sleepy promises. The sound of pouring rain dulls the exasperation of urban traffic outside..elsewhere, somewhere. I remember so many things about you all at once. I smile to myself in my pleasant solitude, in my pleasant longing, and most of all in sheer secretive delight. Our secret of secrets, without holding back and without wanting more than to stay this way in unabashed humor and conviction to say that I want you and nothing else. You -the invader of my thoughts, the thief of my waking sanity, and the perpetrator of all of my happiest grins - are all I need.
“And barefoot or first thing in the morning, I feel beautiful because I feel like me. I didn’t always feel that way, but I feel that way now. When somebody just loves you, and when you make somebody happy, when your presence seems to make them happy, you suddenly feel like the most beautiful person in the world.”—Angelina Jolie (via kari-shma) (via lulay)
Last year a friend of mine asked me why I make my own mixes, he said, “why don’t you just use genius?”
Aside from the fact that I ENJOY making mixes, here is my practical answer: because “GENIUS” has placed, not one, but TWO gary lewis and the playboys songs on EVERY mix I have ever attempted to make using this feature- I mean gary lewis and the playboys? really? REALLY? These guys made like, one record; I have, literally, thousands of records in my itunes and somehow jerry lewis’ son’s band makes it twice onto every attempted “genius” mix. I am convinced, no matter what, “genius” will find a way to inexplicably include, ”just my style” and “everybody loves a clown” into all it endeavors; and that is, frankly, unacceptable.
This is why computers should not make mixes.
that said, I love apple and itunes, without which, I would be a lot less happy.
ps. pandora, however,
“The only obsession everyone wants: ‘love.’ People think that in falling in love they make themselves whole? The Platonic union of souls? I think otherwise. I think you’re whole before you begin. And the love fractures you. You’re whole, and then you’re cracked open.”—Philip Roth, The Dying Animal (via misswallflower)
